Weekend Teams

The 1st and 2nd XVs are both on the road this Saturday, the 1s heading to Poynder Park to play Kelso and the 2s taking on Cartha Queens Park at Dumbreck. Both games kick off at 3 pm.

The 1st XV will line up as follows:

15  – Michael Hanning
14 – Matt Morrell
13 – Neil Bowie
12 – Seb Trotter
11 – Matt Hannay
10 – Nick McCashin (c)
9 – Andrew Manson

1 – Willie Aitken
2 – Hugh Lindsay
3 – Rhys Morgan
4 – Fraser Morrison
5 – Scott Brewster
6 – Fraser Christie
7 – Ben Wilson
8 – Ruaridh Stewart

16 – Ruaridh Mitchell
17 – Adam Howie
18 – Stu Wilson
19 – Fraser Strachan
20 – Ciaran Whyte

There are a few changes after last Saturday’s narrow defeat to Selkirk. Matt Hannay replaces Allan Whittingham on the wing, while Ciaran Whyte returns to the squad having impressed last week for the 2nd XV.

Andrew Manson dislodges Fraser Strachan to start at 9 this week, with Gregor Portus pushing both 9s very hard from the 2s.

In the forwards we replace the young, up and coming Callum Hunter-Hill with the old wise head of Scott Brewster in the boiler house and Stu Wilson makes way for Fraser Christie in the back row.

The 1st XV bus will leave Inverleith at noon sharp – please assemble by 11.45 am if you’d like a lift to Kelso.

The 2nd XV looks like this:

15 – Chris Beattie
14 – Scott Simpson
13 – James Ferguson
12 – Stewart Hagart
11 – Shola Akinosho
10 – Andrew Warnock
9 – Gregor Portus

1 – Dave Lyall
2 – Connor McKay
3 – George Harris
4 – Callum Hunter-Hill
5 – Jamie Berrisford
6 – Andrew Wilson
7 – Scott Cubitt (c)
8 – Ben Docherty

16 – Nick McGlinchey
17 – Craig Willis
18 – Dylan Russell
19 – Graeme Mitchell
20 – Ross Grant

All change this week, with a start in the 2s for Jamie Berrisford after a good showing from the bench last week. CHH, alongside Jamie in the second row, will give us a formidable lineout option. Mercurial Warny returns to run the backline with siege gun Hagart outside him, while the captain’s armband remains with Scott Cubitt.

The 2nd XV bus to Glasgow will also leave Inverleith at noon – again, please assemble by 11.45 am.

The Mighty Threes were due to play Portobello at Cavalry Park, but Porty have cancelled the game as they are unable to raise a team.

Haven’t forgotten about the 1st XV match reports from the Jed and Selkirk games, by the way – bit of a (work related) backlog at Web HQ!
