The 1st XV left it late at Poynder Park, sneaking the win with the last kick of the game as Nick McCashin converted Matt Morrell’s second try of the match. Kelso had been very much in the ascendancy in the first half, leading 22-10 at the break. Our points came from a penalty from Cash after 8 minutes then a converted try from Matt Hannay just before the interval.
We very much more like ourselves after the break, Cash slotting a penalty on the 50 minute mark then Matt Morrell scoring the first of his tries on 70 minutes.
This win puts us fifth in the league, with ninth placed Biggar visiting Inverleith next Saturday.
The fine win for the 2nd XV keeps them at the top of their league, undefeated after four games. They welcome Dumfries to Inverleith at the weekend.
