15 – Christy O’Donnell
14 – Russell Grant
13 – Jack Hannay
12 – Alan Little
11 – Sean Murchie
10 – Matt Hannay
  9 – Scott Richards

  1 – Nick Whittle
  2 – Isaac Miller
  3 – Alistair Baxter
  4 – Chris Damsteegt
  5 – Ruaridh Stewart
  6 – Andrew Sangster
  7 – Euan Wallace
  8 – Cameron Mayo

16 – Martin Kemp
17 – Jonathon Henry
18 – Justin Duncan

While this result doesn’t mean that the 2s have secured their place in the top flight, it goes a long way towards achieving that goal – well done to the players, Dunc, Burge and Eileen for this significant win!

Our Seven were rather less successful at the Greenyards, losing 33-7 to Gala in the qualifying round. This, at least, allowed the players to spend a decent chunk of the afternoon in the Ned Haig bar, thus maintaining a longstanding Stew Mel tradition!

Craig Marshall scored the only try for our Seven, which included Mike Hanning after Neil Bowie pulled out due to illness.

Black Al has pointed out that, since Gala went on to beat India 45-0 in the next round, this officially means that we are better at Sevens than the entire subcontinent – keep taking the tablets, Al!

Gav Calder has filed his report on the 1st XV league game against Selkirk, which I will post when I get a chance this week – in the meantime, you can ‘enjoy’ the highlights here (right click, open in new tab):
