The S4 team reflect the open policy of Stew Mel Lions and
is made up of boys from schools around the Lothians, and
as far away as Tayside, including Royal High, North Berwick,
Trinity, St Thomas, Broughton, Balerno, Perth Academy, Boroughmuir,
Linlithgow. Watsons, and Loretto. The team has been together
since S1 when, in our first season, we won three out of
three tournaments and became EDRU champions. In the SRU
finals we lost on the toss of a coin in the semi to the
eventual winners.

In S2 we won two of three tournaments in Scotland and were
EDRU champions again. In the SRU finals we were runners
up to GHK. We also played in an International Festival against
teams six months older when we won two games and lost two
- good in view of the age difference!
| Last year we won our own
tournament beating GHK 32-0 in the final. We also won
at Ayr Tournament and were EDRU league winners losing
only one try all season. In the SRU finals we lost to
the winners in the semi final. |

Last year we supplied a large number of players to district
rugby- 17 to capital crusaders, 3 to West Lothian Wildcats,
2 to East Lothian Maoris.

Our coach since S1 has been ex internationalist Iwan
Tukalo and he has put a lot of effort into the team.
Iwan now coaches the district side Capital Crusaders
U16 as well.
In the last few years we have had guest coaches including
Doddie Weir, Finlay Calder and Kenny Milne.
