P7
"Above all we aim
to instil an enthusiasm for the game, team spirit and sense
of fun that will keep our squad members coming back each
week"
P7 age group manager Bob Bowie
P7 rugby should be fun to play and safe. Our aim is to
encourage and coach a style of rugby that emphasises skills,
speed, and tactical awareness. We do this by creating a
solid foundation of basic skills - ball handling, tackling,
teamwork, game structure and positional sense - and introduce
speed and tactical game skills during the year.

This year's P7s will build on the great success of last
year. Over 20 players attended training and played in matches
against other clubs. Skill levels developed throughout the
squad last year and this was reflected in some significant
wins.
At this age there is a wide range of skills
and abilities but our aim is to involve every child in matches
and tournaments. We will have three to four teams of equal
strength with a core group for some of the tougher tournaments.
This approach has worked very well in the past.
Coaches
Alan Crawley: is the age group manager. Alan has
the SRU level 1 coaching qualification He learned his
rugby in South Africa and returned to Scotland in time
to play schools district rugby and at university. His
rugby career was tragically cut short by failing eyesight,
a fact that anyone witnessing his attempts at refereeing
last year's midi tournament at the club will testify to.
Bob Bowie: is still playing rugby well into his
fortieth year! Some would say that this a fair reflection
on his sanity as he still practises the black arts of
the front row! Therefore, he is going to be a valuable
member of the coaching set up! Bob recently passed is
SRU level 1 coaching certificate.
David Batchelor: has recently passed the SRU Level
1 coaching certificate.
Gordon Tainton: has recently passed the SRU Level
1 coaching certificate.
