P4
"Above all we aim
to instil an enthusiasm for the game, team spirit and sense
of fun that will keep our squad members coming back each
week"
P4 age group manager Richard McDonald
Objectives
Rugby should be fun to play and safe. Our aim is to encourage
and coach a style of rugby that emphasises skills, speed,
and tactical awareness. We do this by creating a solid foundation
of basic skills - ball handling, tackling, teamwork, game
structure and positional sense - and introduce speed and
tactical game skills during the year. It is important that
the parents understand what we are trying to achieve when
we introduce rugby at this age group. The children grow
and develop at different rates both physically and mentally
and so the coaching plans have to reflect this diversity.
Most importantly, the objective of the sessions is for
the children to have fun.

Currie. Steven is completing a PE degree at Edinburgh
University and is employed as one of the club's development
officers.
