Lion Cubs
"The Lion Cubs aim
is to promote the physical well being of the children, introduce
teamwork, instil the basic skills required for playing rugby,
and, most importantly, to HAVE FUN"
Lion Cubs Manager David Milne
The Lion Cubs - "Learning
to ROAR!"
The Lion Cubs are unique to Scottish Rugby. All rugby
fans gaze in awe at the ball skills of southern hemisphere
teams and expostulate about Scotland's inability to do the
same. The reason is simply that those players start early
and having a ball in their hands is second nature. The Lion
Cubs allows all kids to develop, at an early age, the skills
and passion, camaraderie and fun associated with "The
Beautiful Game".

Last year our P4 teams achieved phenomenal success and
were made up predominantly of Lion Cub "graduates".
Although we would like all our cubs to progress within the
club we understand that it is not for everybody and we take
a more holistic view of the skills we teach. We use soccer
balls, tennis balls, hockey sticks and hoops as well as
rugby balls to encourage the children to retain any aspect
of sport and fitness as an integral part of their future.
Every activity we undertake is non-contact and fun.
Coaches
David Milne - set up the "micro rugby"
3 years ago to give youngsters something to do whilst
their older brothers and sisters were training. The Lion
Cubs now has 40 members. A trained Cub Scout leader he
is well used to handling this age group. David played
Rugby at Royal High and his son Gavin currently plays
in the P6 section.
