Teams for Saturday 24th September

Teams for Saturday 24th September

The 1st XV welcome West Of Scotland to Inverleith this weekend, with a 3 pm kickoff.

The team is as follows:

15 – Liam Steele
14 – Richard Borthwick
13 – Scott Riddell
12 – Neil Bowie
11 – Matt Hannay
10 – Seb Trotter
  9 – Rob Patterson

  1 – Willie Aitken
  2 – George Turner
  3 – Reece O’Leary
  4 – Scott Brewster (c)
  5 – Fraser Morrison
  6 – Phil Hendry
  7 – Donald Sangster
  8 – Joni Hare

16 – Roddy Mackenzie
17 – Blair Tweedie
18 – Angus Dixon
19 – Adam Broatch

There are a few changes to our lineup this week, mostly in the backline.

Stu Ker played his last game for us against Biggar last week before moving to London; he is replaced at 9 by Rob Patterson, who will be making his 50th start for the 1st XV as a result.

Andy Hughes and Hayden drop out through injury, and are replaced by Matt Hannay and Neil Bowie, respectively. Both Matt and Neil have impressed for the 2nd XV this season, and we welcome them to the 1st XV for their debuts.

Neil’s dad, Bob, used to prop for the 1st XV,  so it’s great to see Neil follow in his footsteps.

The only change in the pack sees Fraser Morrison replacing Mark Wilson in the Boiler House – Mark is the latest player to miss a game due to wedding duties! Fraser will also be making his 1st XV debut this weekend.

Bambi replaces Jamie Allan on the bench; Jamie injured his ankle after coming on as a sub at Hartreemill last week.

West aren’t having the best of seasons, having won only 1 game so far, but we are taking nothing for granted this weekend. Inverleith is going to be jumping tomorrow, with sponsors and past players in attendance, so please come down, lend the boys on the pitch your support then enjoy the banter in the bar afterwards.

The 2nd XV are on the road this week, playing Boroughmuir at Meggetland:

15 – Stephen Macdonald
14 – Joe Parvin
13 – Michael Hooks
12 – Mike Brown
11 – Dave Tweedie
10 – Michael Hanning
  9 – Rob Primrose

  1 – Ethan Brown
  2 – Nick Kesley
  3 – Andy Statham
  4 – Neil Graham
  5 – Ben Leathes
  6 – Adam Howie
  7 – Gav Black
  8 – Stu Clark

16 – Ali Baxter
17 – Fergus Lamont
18 – Fraser Rankine
19 – Sam Blackwood
20 – Ross Grady

Particularly good to see Messrs Clark, Blackwood and Grady on the teamsheet!

The 2s players are asked to meet at 1.30 pm for a 3 pm kickoff.

The Mighty 3s were due to play their Heriot’s counterparts at Goldenacre, but our chums from along Ferry Road have pulled out of the fixture. The crack 3s squad that Manager Matt (Coyle) had pulled together have therefore been invited to watch the 1st XV game at Inverleith then take part in a free cider tasting afterwards – sounds like a plan!
