Information for Parents

It is important that parents read and understand the following information:

Training: Every Sunday (term time) from 1-2pm.

Please watch out for notification on Teamer or this web site for any changes to this. Tea and Coffee will be available to buy most Sundays. This service is run by parents and all proceeds go to the club.

Communications: The primary method of communication is via Teamer, so please download the app to your phone, making sure you use the same email address that was submitted when registering your child.

The web site will also be used, so check out the year group page. Please also follow the club on Twitter @stewmelrugby. The Lions will also write periodic newsletters.

Tournaments: Stew Mel Lions have a number of tournaments and round robins (friendly matches with other teams). Please see the current schedule. Notification on who will be selected for matches is the responsibility of the coaches.

If not selected training is normally on as usual.

Health and Safety: Stew Mel Lions follow the SRU guidelines of child protection.

Concussion Management: It is important that all parents who have children playing contact rugby understand the signs of concussion, please read the guide.

Kit: Kit can be purchased from First XV at Haymarket, please find all kit available here. It is very strongly recommended for children who are playing contact rugby to wear a well fitting mouth guard.

Discipline: This is a very important element of the game of rugby and we ensure that respect and fair play is at the centre or all coaching, we would like to ask that all parents support the coaching team in this respect. Please read the 10 principles of the lions.

Get Involved/Social: The Stewart Melville RFC have an active social calendar which the Lions actively participate.

Subs/Registration: The club charge £60 per year (less than £2 per week) this subscription needs to be paid before children are eligible to attend or play in tournaments. Register your child now.
