It's all change in season 2007/08 for the Mighty Stew Mel 3rd XV. After a mixed bag of a season last year, with few victories and many cancelled games (due mainly to opposition call offs), the bar has been raised for the coming year.

We've been entered into a new league, 2nd XV League Division 4E (Edinburgh & South), and have consequently got some new 2nd XV opposition in the shape of Lismore, Forrester, Linlithgow, Grangemouth, Ross High, Lasswade, Preston Lodge, Falkirk and Kinross. Joining us are the 3rd XVs of old foes Accies, Edinburgh Uni and the Nails.

As always, it's going to be good fun and a good standard of rugby, but this time we've a new challenge and a competitive league to get our teeth into. With a good level of commitment from our regulars and some fresh blood, we're more than capable of making an impact.

We're always on the lookout for new players of any age and/or ability to join us. The 3rd XV selectors are generally able to draw on a potent mix of newcomers to the club, young players, 'resting' 2nd XV players and players who are unable to train but can still play rugby to a decent standard.

If you fit the bill, please contact managers Mark Coyle or Brodie Smithers via this link, or, if you're really brave, then come down to training on a Tuesday or Thursday night at 6.30 pm on the back pitches at Inverleith.

Coaches for season 2007/08

The 3rd XV will be coached and managed by Mark Coyle this season, with the help of Brodie Smithers (who'll be quickly forgetting the SRU coaching badges he picked up this summer).
