There are three changes to the side that defeated Peebles
last week. Richard Borthwick returns to replace Gavin Sharp
on the wing, with Gavin dropping to the bench.
In the pack, Paul Wharakura has failed to shake off the
injury that saw him subbed against Peebles, and is replaced
by Simon Capaldi, who starts a game for the first time this
season after seven appearances from the bench. Ross Rennie
is suspended for this game after picking up his third yellow
card of the season against Peebles, and is replaced by Stuart
Clark in the back row.
This is a crucial fixture for us against the top team in
the Division, and another strong showing from our excellent
travelling support would be much appreciated. The team bus
will leave Inverleith at 12.30 on Saturday if anyone fancies
a lift.
Riggers'
Review

No excuses. We were well and truly beaten
up by a team that, on the day, were much better than us.
In Bob Wylie, Shawn Renwick, Ian Noble, Brian Archibald,
plus their scrum half and outside centre, they had players
in key positions who played to a level we could not attain
on this occasion and the result is now history. About this
time last season, we were on the receiving end of a similarly
heavy drubbing from Dundee High School. The challenge for
the squad now is to show what they are made of. They did
that last season in reversing the Dundee result and the
challenge will be on to do the same to Stirling this time
round.

We still lie third in the league, with our destiny very
much in our own hands. Of the other top five teams, we have
played them all away from Inverleith, so there is hopefully
home advantage to come into play in the second half of the
season. We have a break in the league campaign to play Kilmarnock
in the Cup next Saturday, and this game now becomes hugely
significant in terms of determining the stature of this
team. Im pretty sure we will get the response that
we all hope for and the squad will buckle down to try and
recapture some of the early season form.

On the injury front yesterday, Nick Penny broke a knuckle
on his right hand. A visit to the fracture clinic on Tuesday
will determine the length of his absence. Alex Edmonstone
was also in the wars, popping his shoulder out of its socket.
It is expected Alex will be back in 4 to 6 weeks' time.
Graham Shiel called off before the game with an ankle injury;
an x-ray has shown no broken bones, so time will dictate
his recovery period.

Who else but Simon Capaldi, yellowed on
75 minutes for (as he puts it) 'swearing near the ref'
- should that not be 'at the ref', Si? |
| Referee |
Gary Duncan of Ellon - maybe a bit pernickety,
but seemed to have a decent game. Still got pelters
from the Bridgehaugh bleacher bumpkins, mind. |
| Single Sentence Summary |
Well horsed by a classy County side that
have 'Premiership One' written all over them |
| Leading Lion |
Despite the fact that the Points Against total was
heading for 50, the boys stuck at it, competing throughout
the 80 minutes. David Warwick
epitomised that fighting spirit, making some neat
breaks and defending well.

Oh, lots and lots, starting at the Barnton
Bar & Bistro in the town centre, continuing at Bridgehaugh
then finishing off at the fab Settle Inn up by the castle.
Great real ale at the Settle, but sadly not at Bridgehaugh
- with a big fan base, you'd think County could offer
some ales from the local microbreweries. |
