A return to league action this week sees a number of regulars
return to fitness and the squad. Back in the squad after
missing the Kilmarnock game are Graham Shiel, Paul Wharakura,
Stephen Dalgleish and Struan Samson.
Saturday also sees Stuart Clark make his 50th appearance
for the 1st XV at the grand old age of 21!
It's essential that the 1st XV bounce back in the league
after the disappointing result at Bridgehaugh, so please
try and make it down to Inverleith to lend them your support.
Riggers'
Review

Well, erm, what do you, eh, say about that,
then? 12-13 down at half-time and, despite having dominated
territory and possession, wed played very laterally
- with little go forward - and ran team mates out of space,
we were lazy in supporting attacks, and there was a sense
of 'go through the motions and hopefully well be all
right' about us.

A half-time talking to that Sir Alex Ferguson
would have been happy with, with the mythical hairdryer
treatment being given out to the entire team, and then ....
a six try, 38-5 second half period which saw a return to
the form which has been missing since the Dundee High game,
direct running, a domination of set piece, a high tempo
and pace about us, and support play of the highest order.
Confused? Youre not the only one!

As usual, the Saturday performance leaves us plenty to
think about before we head over to Kirkcaldy next Sunday
afternoon. With Paul, Dalgy, Sheesh and Struan all returning
to the fray during the Selkirk game, we are, however, getting
closer to our strongest team again. Hopefully, Chris Bissett
and Gareth Flockhart will also return to action in the next
couple of weeks after their injuries and we can continue
to build through the rest of the year.

Shaun McMurchy yellowed on 65 minutes
for a pretty blatant high tackle / bosh. A Selkirk player
was also yellowed for kicking Struan in second half
injury time. |
| Referee |
Paul Burr of Hillhead/Jordanhill - had
a good game, despite the fact that his touch judges
offered him little or no assistance as usual |
| Single Sentence Summary |
The textbook game of two halves - the
first one saw some of our least inspiring play of the
season, while the second one featured some great rugby
and an avalanche of tries |
| Leading Lion |
Particularly good showings from Euan Clark and Paul
Wharakura today - nice to see the big man get on the
scoresheet for the first time this season - but let's
go for Jed Gordon,
who scored two classic winger's tries. His first one,
where he hared down the wing to touch down wee Clarkie's
excellent kick ahead, really launched our second half
revival.

| Bevvy Bulletin |
The clubhouse was relatively quiet after the game,
probably due to the Scotland match later in the afternoon,
so felt obliged to increase bar takings by necking
copious pints of Carlsberg.
Oh, and didn't Hamish look smart in his new dress
shirt? Much better than those baffy t-shirts
