TBC (Replacement back) |
All but one of the 18 man squad that cut loose in the
second half against Selkirk is retained for the trip over
to Kirkcaldy on Sunday, with the unavailable Graham Shiel
missing out. He is replaced at 10 by Mike Elliott, with
Borth reverting to his traditional wing berth. This lets
Struan Samson reclaim the number 12 jersey after coming
through the second half last Saturday, which means David
Warwick sliding out into the Outside Centre position.
Up front, Stuart Clark has been unable to train this week
due to work and drops down to the bench. Simon Capaldi moves
into his old Scottish Schools position of Second row, with
Ben Leathes dropping back from the Second row to the blindside
flank. Graham Lind moves over to No.8 from the blindside.
The third replacement will be decided after the crucial
2nd XV league game against Watsonians on Saturday. Graham
Shiel is available on Saturday, so will feature in the 2nd
XV squad.
Beveridge Park is never an easy place to visit, as our
17-22 win care of a last-gasp Lindy try there in January
proved, so your support would be very welcome this time
around. The team bus will leave Inverleith at 12.30 sharp
on Sunday if you would like a lift.
Riggers'
Review

For the first Sunday afternoon in six months,
I had the privilege of not being stuck in a flat waiting
on potential buyers to come round to view. At 4.30 pm, I
was actually contemplating that that was, in fact, not a
bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon, after watching an inept,
dire and dispiriting Stew/Mel performance that I can still
hardly believe I witnessed. My feelings were summed up in
a text message received from ex-captain Fraser Pollock.
After responding to his request for the final score, I was
greeted with kin hell as a message. Eloquently
put, my friend, and to the point.

Our away record at the half-way stage of the league campaign
shows 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses, and it is these performances
on the road that have us stuck in third place behind Jed-Forest
after 11 games. Our destiny is very much in our own hands,
but, on that kind of performance, there are a lot of guys
who are going to have to smarten up, grow up and toughen
up before we get into the upcoming run of games that will
determine what this team is remembered as.
Other than that, Ill take advice I was once given.
If you dont have anything positive to say say
nothing.
See you next Sunday for the Cup game.

Si Capaldi was yellowed for stamping on
57 minutes, but the card has now been transferred to
Dalgy on appeal (as Si said to the ref at the time,
'I bloody wish I was near the ruck I'm supposed
to have stamped in!')
This means that Simon will be available for selection
on Sunday.
The Kirkcaldy 7 also saw yellow during the second half. |

| Single Sentence Summary |
The dull 'clunk' you heard at 4.30 today
was one of the wheels coming off our promotion bandwagon
- yes, Kirkcaldy were stuffy and well up for the game,
but we should still have been capable of putting them

| Leading Lion |
Can't really commend any of the Stew Mel contingent
on the pitch, so let's name a few of the heroes off
the pitch - Yosser
(touchline kicker sledging), Maw
Hendry (pie catching) and Fighting
Ken (scuffle avoidance)

| Bevvy Bulletin |
Oh, indeed - a superb pre-match sesh with Yoss in
Kirkcaldy's Harbour Bar, home of the Fyfe Brewing
Company. At £1.70 a pint for their own beers,
it's a miracle we ever left the place - and, given
what followed at Beveridge Park, we're almost sorry
we did ....
