We make 7 seven changes from the team that played so poorly
against Haddington last week. Much soul searching has been
done during the week, and the players have been told that
their attitude and desire to win must improve significantly
if we are to realise the ambition of promotion this season.
Coming in for League debuts are Mark Welch, Grant Smith,
Lee Crafar and John Healy, replacing Stuart Donald (who
drops down to the bench), Stewart Bartwicki (who is on holiday),
Andy Russell (who has been dropped) and Jason Conlin, who,
after an injury- interrupted pre-season, drops down to the
2nds to get a few games under his belt and back up to speed.
Other changes see Scott Stewart and Richard Munro replace
Steven Reed and Ross McNeill, both of whom are unavailable
due to work commitments. The final change sees Brian McDougall
start at prop for Simon Rowan who picked up a knock last
Saturday which he has been unable to shake off.
Ben Searancke, the NZ tight head, makes his debut for the
2nd XV as his clearance has come through from Tuesday 11th
September.
This week also saw the arrival of David Hunter from Selkirk,
a very useful full back, wing or centre, who also plays
for the 2nd XV whilst we wait on his clearance coming through.
Captain Fraser Pollock should be fit to play against Berwick
next Saturday as he recovers from an injury picked up in
pre-season.
