There are a number of changes to the team that started in our league game against Stirling County last week.

In the backs, Craig Joiner is unavailable, so Shiely replaces him at inside centre, with fit again Nicky Wood returning to the Stand Off berth. Pete McLean takes over the starting wing berth from Colin Goudie, who drops to the bench.

Up front, the return of Shaun from suspension allows us to field our now traditional front row. Dalgy is carrying an injury from last week and Ross Rennie is unavailable, so Alex Clarke and Richie Vernon both start this week.

Scott Brewster and Euan Clark provide back row and backs cover on the bench, respectively.

It's important that we maintain the momentum that we have been building up in our league campaign, so a good performance against Premier 2 side GHA is essential. Please come down to Inverleith to cheer the boys on.

Riggers' Review

GHA at home, 21/1/06

On the third anniversary of our last defeat in the month of January, GHA duly achieved a deserved victory over a lacklustre Stewart's Melville FP team. Indeed, it was hard to believe it was the same team which had turned their league fortunes around in the previous three games. It is really hard to come out with any positives from the performance, which was probably the poorest we've had since our traumatic visit to Bridgehaugh in October.

So best not to dwell on it.

I think we should leave the Cup to the School 1st XV and let the FP team concentrate on the league. If you're free on Friday evening, make your way along to Murrayfield for the 7.30 pm kick off and cheer the School team on their way to what will hopefully be Scottish Cup success. Admission is free.

It would be wrong not to mention one of the GHA tries, scored by their 18 year old winger Niall Cassie, which was worthy of winning many a Cup match. Indeed, all you could do was applaud the skill of the young winger. If he scores many tries like that in the rest of his career, it will be some career. GHA were worthy winners, and good luck to them in the next round.

This week sees a resumption of league action, with Ayr coming to visit Inverleith. Once again the game can be classified in the 'must win' category, and, hopefully, after the debacle they produced last Saturday, the team will rise to the occasion and banish the memory of the Cup performance.

See you at Inverleith for a 2.30 pm kick off.

Referee Keith Montgomery of Dollar Academy FP
Single Sentence Summary For the first twenty minutes of the game, it looked like our players had never met each other before, with GHA bossing scrum and lineout and what possession we secured being kicked aimlessly away; we rallied slightly in the second half as GHA tired, but the best team on the day definitely won
Leading Lion

Tempted to withhold the award after a pretty dispiriting team performance, but Andrew Easson deserves credit for his fearsome tackling, direct running and will to win.

Stuart Clark also gets an honorable mention for, once again, hurling himself about the park all afternoon - apart from Andy, big Clarky was probably our most effective back today ...

Bevvy Bulletin

Thank goodness for the 2nd and 3rd XVs, whose fine derby wins raised the spirits of those who had been unfortunate enough to witness the game on Pitch 1, and provided an ideal excuse to knock back copious amounts of Magners.
