Given the disappointing performance at Netherdale last
week, it's no surprise that there have been a number of
changes for Saturday's home game against Biggar.
Jed Gordon returns to the squad for the first time this
season, while Stuart Ker makes his 1st XV debut after impressing
for the 2s in recent weeks.
Hope to see a decent crowd down to shout the boys to victory
on Saturday - remember, the 2s are also at home, while the
annual Race Night is taking place at Inverleith in the evening.
Please speak to Shaun, Dalgy or Borth if you've not yet
bought your ticket for the Race Night, or wish to sponsor
a race or a horse.

Riggers'
Review

The Stewart's Melville rollercoaster of a
season shows no sign of slowing down. Having come from behind
in our first two home games this season to win the matches
at the death, our support were feeling a bit more relaxed
during the game against Biggar when, early in the second
half, a 36-20 lead had been established.

A sin-binning and an impressive kicking display
from Conan Sharman kept Biggar in touch, however, to such
an extent that they took the lead with 10 minutes to go,
meaning another uncomfortable afternoon for the Stew Mel
support.

Thankfully Shaun McMurchy popped up to clinch
the game and our first five point haul since October 2005.
Other tries came from Alex Cox (2), Richard Borthwick, Jed
Gordon and Andrew Statham.

| Single Sentence Summary |
The Inverleith rollercoaster continues,
with a 16 point advantage mid way through the second
half turning into a 1 point deficit before the team
finally clinched a victory which had again seen them
sparkle in places and plumb the depths in others

A number of useful contributions during the game,
with Stuart Ker impressing at scrum half on his debut
and Simon Capaldi coming to the rescue. But, on his
first appearance of the season, the award goes to
Jed Gordon for
an excellent display in both attack and defence, and
for the fact that he secured our first try bonus point
since October 15th last year with his try just on
half time.

I'm sure the beer taps at Invers were kept busy,
what with our latest nerve-shredding victory and the
Race Night. I was several hundred miles north, sipping
fine An Teallach ales in a marquee by Loch Broom in
Ullapool. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it!

| Pie Points |
No idea how the scran went down at Invers
this time around; I was busy enjoying hot and cold salmon
pies, hot whisky cured smoked salmon rolls and venison
hot dogs, all care of the wonderful Ullapool Smokehouse.
I can hardly type this for drooling ... |
