Stew Mel Rugby

Stewart's College FP

In August 1972 the two famous Edinburgh schools Daniel Stewart's College and Melville College were merged to form Daniel Stewart's and Melville College and in consequence the Former Pupil Clubs of the two schools also combined, with the respective rugby football clubs joining forces the following year.

Had this not taken place the Stewart's College FP Football Club would have celebrated its centenary as a member of the Scottish Rugby Union in 1987. At that time it was not deemed appropriate to mark the occasion by any special event but a number of senior members of the club felt that a historical record of its activities would be of considerable interest to Former Pupils, in particular and perhaps even to a wider range of rugby followers.
