Rugby @ Stew Mel Lionesses
Rugby is for girls too, and the Stew Mel Lionesses leads the way for dedicated Girls rugby in Edinburgh.
Every Sunday at 1PM at Inverleith, girls are playing touch/tag rugby – picking up the basics of the game and advancing their skills.
We have a wide range of ages and abilities – all are welcome.
Enjoyment of the game comes first and foremost. It’s great fun for all involved and helps the girls learn a new sport which gives complementary skills to other sports they may be playing.
We train on Sundays at the same time and in the same place as the Boys Section. The time is split between working on skills and playing a competitive game, with the girls mixed to ensure they all get a fair chance to participate.
Last season’s highlights included the girls joining in a mixed touch rugby game as a curtain raiser for the 1st XV against Marr in September where they more than held their own!
We welcome as many girls as can come along and at present, operate on a subs free basis due to the generosity of the club.
We look forward to seeing as many newcomers as possible!
