Mid Term Blues
Mid Term break is over and everybody seems
to have had a good rest. I hope the weather is reasonable
because we have missed three good weekends where rugby would
have been played. Unfortunately, the pitches at Currie were
unplayable on Sunday morning so the games were cancelled.
I am sure this was a great disappointment to parents who
were hoping that the children would run off some excess
energy before they started back to school.

At late notice we did manage to hire the
Stewart's Melville Gym. Those Dads who were not brave enough
to join us on the Astro turf witnessed touch rugby of the
highest standard - well that was from the children - the
coaches waddled and limped around chasing Dougie Ryecroft's
(P3 coach ) shadow. It was a wonderful session full of laughter.
Indoor facilities have been arranged for all age groups
for December and January but we will try and and arrange
sessions at Ravelston Sports club should the weather cause
further cancellations. It is important that parents check
out the web site for changes to training arrangements particularly
the younger age groups.
There is a definite 'buzz' around Scottish
rugby at the moment. I have watched wonderful mini rugby;breathtaking
schools rugby by the Stewart's Melville 1st XV; good club
rugby with our senior side; winning rugby with our pro team,
the Edinburgh Gunners; and Scotland seem to be developing
a young and exciting group of players.

So please try and support rugby. The senior
team play on Saturday afternoons and have a very good chance
of promotion this season. The club would welcome Mums, Dads
and especially the youngsters to come down to Inverleith
and support the Lions.
The Edinburgh Gunners are now in the Quarter
Finals of the Celtic League and have some crucial matches
in the European Cup in November and December.
