Laigh Bent update
Everyone who went through to Hamilton for the 1st XV game on Saturday was shocked to see the medical emergency, involving a Cartha player, that took place at the far side of the pitch as our game was coming to an end.
After various folk asked me if I’d heard how the Cartha player got on, I mailed Hamilton president Donald Woodrow to ask for an update.
Delighted to pass on the following response from Donald:
“The player concerned, Mark Taylor, was taken to Hairmyers Hospital after being administered to at the side of the pitch. There it was discovered that he had a blocked artery and would require an immediate operation. This has been carried out and the blockage cleared.
“Mark has been removed from the critical list and as of Sunday he was described as making a good steady progress towards fitness once again.
“We are in contact with Cartha Queen’s Park and they are keeping us updated, so when I talk to their President tonight I will pass on the concerns and best wishes of everyone connected to Stewart’s Melville.”
There’s also an update about Mark on the Cartha website.
