Glasgow Warriors are offering supporters a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience Scotland’s national stadium from a unique vantage point and in the process raise vital funds for the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis.
Fans from across the country are being invited to take part in a sponsored abseil at Murrayfield on Sunday 15 April in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, one of the Warriors’ official charity partners.
Entrants will make the 100-foot descent from the roof of the iconic West stand, and will be welcomed back to terra firma by Warriors players on the ground.
Entry to the event costs just £15, with all proceeds directly assisting the 9,000 UK-based sufferers of Cystic Fibrosis, one of the country’s most common inherited life threatening diseases.
As a special thank you to supporters who take part, the Warriors are offering all entrants a FREE ticket to our final home RaboDirect PRO12 game of the regular season against Connacht.
With pre-purchase adult tickets to the match costing £15, the abseil is effectively FREE. All we ask is a pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship total of £100. Tickets to the Connacht game will be distributed at Murrayfield on the day of the event.
Fans who wish to sign up or seek further information can visit http://www.cftrust.org.uk/help/events/murrayfield. Places are strictly limited, so supporters should register now to avoid disappointment.
Warriors head coach Sean Lineen said: “This is a great way for people to see Murrayfield like they’ve never seen it before, and support a great charity into the bargain.
“The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is a cause that’s very close to our hearts as a club, and I’m sure supporters from across the country will take the chance to get behind it and enjoy a pretty special day out in the process."
June Ross, fundraising manager for the CF Trust in Scotland, said: "The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is delighted to be offering this unique opportunity for abseilers and rugby fans alike. As part of our official charity partnership with Glasgow Warriors, we are looking for 200 people to take up the abseil challenge and raise vital funds.”
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) claims two lives a week in the UK. CF is caused by a defective gene that results in the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, becoming clogged with thick sticky mucus resulting in chronic infections and inflammation in the lungs and difficulty absorbing food.
The CF Trust provides help, support and advice to families affected by CF and funds ground-breaking research to find a treatment that will improve and lengthen the lives of people with CF.
