Now that the team has been selected for the Scarborough trip in early April, the focus turns to the Alnwick trip on Saturday 21st/Sunday 22nd April. The proposal is to give the boys the chance of an overnight trip, therefore we are proposing to head down on the Saturday afternoon, stay overnight at the Alnwick Youth Hostel (www.alnwickyouthhostel.co.uk), and then play in the Alnwick Rugby Club Festival on the Sunday (www.alnwickrugby.com), before returning home on Sunday afternoon.
The thoughts for the Saturday are to visit Alnwick castle where they filmed part of Harry Potter, then take the boys to the beach for a warm up session – some touch rugby, rounders etc. To finish off the night the team and parents have been invited to one of the Alnwick Coaches house for a BBQ and some refreshments. The cost for the overnight trip inc accommodation and a trip to the castle should be no more than £60 for the parent/son combo.
Please note that the rugby on the Sunday can be attended as a day trip and therefore it is not necessary to commit to the overnight trip. If it is clear the parents/boys would prefer to keep this to a day trip – this is not a problem, but we do need to know if we are progressing on the basis of an overnight or day trip as soon as possible. Therefore can I ask that those selected please confirm their availability, and preference for an overnight or day trip. Should you no longer be available to attend, please let us know as the trip is over-subscribed.
