Down Inverleith Way 12
The two narrow victories against Selkirk saved the collective finger nails of SM supporters for another week. Both the Senior 1st and 2nd XV’s maintained their position just ahead of the relegation battle and although not yet safe – by any stretch of the imagination – the outcome is at least in our own hands ( Gavin and Jim Calder provide their usual excellent match reports).
As an aside, the Lions also produced victories against our friends from the Borders but this was more about participation and camaraderie and was a great way to start the day.
The 1st XV has four games left — Howe of Fife (a), Hamilton Bulls (h), Dundee (a) and Falkirk (h). The first two named are below us in the league, whilst the latter two sit comfortably in the top half. In the next two matches, the RBG are fighting for their lives but so are the men from Duffus Park and Laigh Bent. The coaches and players will be working hard to be fully prepared for the challenges ahead, and it would be great, in the first instance, if we could take a strong travelling support to Cupar on the 4th March.
Dates for your diary:
Saturday 4th March 2017: Senior 1st XV v Howe of Fife Duffus Park, Cupar 3pm
Saturday 11th March 2017: Senior 1st XV v Hamilton Bulls Inverleith 2pm*

Saturday 1st April 2017: Senior 1st XV v Falkirk Inverleith 3pm
The SRU have agreed to an early kick off so that supporters can also watch England v Scotland.
The 2nd XV have three games left:
Saturday 4th March 2017: Senior 2nd XV v Edinburgh Ac. Inverleith 3pm
Saturday 11th March 2017 Senior 2nd XV v Boroughmuir Meggatland 3pm
Saturday 25th March 2017 Senior 2nd XV v Dundee Mayfield 3pm
Again they would really appreciate your support.
The major disappointment from last Saturday was the inability of the Mighty 3’s, despite the efforts of Fin and his henchmen, to raise a team to play Preston Lodge. Their next outing is against Forrester at Inverleith on 4th March and if you are part of the squad please put your hand up and lets get a strong team out.
There are also two interesting social events coming on the calendar at Inverleith; the Awards Night and Dinner on 1st April and the exclusive British and Irish Lions Dinner on 21st April. Get your tickets now as they are running out fast!
Good luck to Scotland on Saturday.
