Creditable performance at Melrose

Stew Mel LogoThe 7’s put up a very creditable performance at Melrose on Saturday. In our first tie we beat Peebles by 19-14 with tries by Gus Lean(2) and Harry Boisseau and two conversions by Mike Hanning. We then met one of the seeded sides, London Scottish, and probably gave them too much respect early on and were down by 21-7 at the start of the second half, but, then took control of the game and scored the try of the day when Ben Johnstone made a superb break and gave the “Benny” flip to Seb Trotter who ran a great angle to score underneath the sticks. Scott Riddell then scored his second try, but, unfortunately we missed the conversion to tie the game up and we beaten 21-19. A very pleasing performance from the boys and it’s nice to know that we can still play a bit of 7’s.Thanks to everybody for their efforts.
