3rd XV vs Preston Lodge 2s: Match Report

Preston Lodge 191013 - 001What a cracking day out we had on Saturday, with no less than 11 tries scored. The highlights and lowlights are as follows:

Stu McLaren scored the opener, kicked nine conversions, got sent off and then negotiated it down to a yellow after the game: good skills!

Stu Thom was my pick for Man of the Match – absolutely everywhere on the field and so many of our tries came through his involvement.

The 11 tries were scored by Andrew Lebeter (2), Richie Munro, Daryl Teague, Toby Hartley, Ally Scott, Jamie Crook, Stu McLaren, Stu Thom, Willie Malcolm and Ross Nicholl.

At a score of 75-15, it seems like it was a one-sided affair, but I know, in the forwards, we had to work hard for it, and they had some BIG boys in their front row.

I felt Jonny Jenkins was extremely unlucky not to get on the score sheet as he made a couple of searing breaks before off-loading. Duke Durie was also a constant presence round the field while cleaning up loose ball, and it was a shame to take him off – but we have to give everyone a game.

Also it was good to see our new recruit Alasdair Campbell get involved, and afterwards he also joined me, Rob Ogley and Toby Hartley to play for Inverleith.

So this weekend we are playing Watsonians at Myreside. They are usually a pretty quick team to play and are always good hosts. Kick off will be 3 pm. One or two people have already declared their availability. Who else is able to play?
