1st XV vs Aberdeen Grammar at Inverleith

1st XV vs Aberdeen Grammar at Inverleith

rhc_300814_001Competitive league action returns to Inverleith tomorrow as we open our campaign against Aberdeen Grammar (kickoff 3 pm).

The men from Rubislaw will be keen to get off to a good start after the disappointment of relegation last season.

After a well rounded performance last week against RHC,  we see Willie Aitken return to the front row, while Fraser Morrison returns to the boiler house to partner Scotland Under 19 player Callum Hunter Hill. Ben Wilson also returns to the back row.

The backs remain unchanged, with Scotland Under 19 stars Angus Rennie and Andrew Manson making their first league starts.

It’s especially pleasing to see 8 former Stew Mel Lions / school players in the squad – in fact, we will need to ask Black Al when we last saw an all-FP bench on Pitch 1!

The team is as follows:

15 – Mike Hanning
14 – Matt Morrell
13 – Ciaran White
12 – Neil Bowie
11 – Angus Rennie
10 – Nick McCashin (c)
9 – Andrew Manson

1 – Willie Aitken
2 – Ruaridh Mitchell
3 – Rhys Morgan
4 – Fraser Morrison
5 – Callum Hunter Hill
6 – Adam Howie
7 – Ben Wilson
8 – Ryan Lambert

16 – Ruaridh Stewart
17 – Hugh Lindsay
18 – Fraser Christie
19 – Gregor Porteous
20 – Matt Hannay

Inverleith is going to be busy tomorrow, as the 2nd and 3rd XVs are also playing at home, against Currie (1.30 pm) and Forrester 2s (3 pm) respectively.

The Stew Mel Lions will also be playing a warm up game on Pitch 1 tomorrow, kicking off at 2.30 pm, so please get down to Invers early!
