Stewart’s Melville – Today

accies_050414_front2In season 2014/15, the club’s 1st XV will play in the RBS National League.

While the club has come a long way since the glory days of the 1980s, when its success on the Sevens circuit culminated in victory at the prestigious Middlesex Sevens in 1982, its current crop of talented young players are regularly recognised at district and international level. The brand of rugby played at Inverleith is always played at “pace”.

Its ground, Inverleith, was the venue for Scotland’s home games between 1899 and 1925, during which time the first match against New Zealand was played. Inverleith still boasts some of the best playing facilities in Edinburgh.

The club currently runs three XVs on a regular basis and these teams all play in competitive national leagues. In Season 2013/14 the 2nd XV will again play in RBS Reserve League National 1 and the 3rd XV in RBS Reserve League East 2.

We are fortunate in having the best feeder system in the country, with Stewart’s Melville College continually providing us with high calibre players. The club also welcomes all-comers at Inverleith.
